Srinagar, Jun 15 (KNO): The administration of J&K Union Territory on Tuesday constituted a new selection committee to draw up a panel of names for the post of vice-chancellor of Sher-e- Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST)- Kashmir.
According to an order, a copy of which is in possession of news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the government has constituted a four-member committee to submit names for choosing the next VC of the prestigious institution.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section (1) of section(25) of the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology Act, 1982, and in suppression of government order No. 117- JK( Agri) of 2020 dated 27-06-2020, sanction is hereby accorded to the constitution of a selection committee for drawing up a panel of names for appointment to the post of vice-chancellor of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology, Kashmir,” reads the order.
The committee comprises of Dr Mangala Rai, former vice-chancellor of G.B.Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar, Uttar Pradesh, Director General Indian Council for Agricultural Research(ICAR), Chairman University Grants Commission or his nominee and Atul Duloo, Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education.
It is pertinent to mention that government had in June last year constituted a committee headed by Financial Commissioner Finance, Arun Kumar Mehta and comprising Director General (DG) Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR); Chairman UGC or his nominee, VC SKUAST, Jammu, Dr JP Sharma and nominee of the Chancellor of the University to draw up a panel of names for the coveted position—(KNO)
